Living in Monterrey, no not in California

[caption id="attachment_49" align="alignright" width="240"] In Fundidora be prepared to see people taking wedding pictures. You can clearly see one here, and in the back there is another. Not pictured was the third group to the left...[/caption]

Monterrey is an industrial city with headquarters scattered across its domain.  But, when you get out of your can and walk around, you may find it quite romantic.  Why romantic?

In a stroll through Centro (or any other part of the city for that matter) you'll quickly find the streets swarming with couples in such tight embraces you could use a crowbar to get them apart.  And they are everywhere, it is a useless endeavor to try and keep track of the number.  Though I have been counting the weddings I've seen; I'm up to 37.  All of these lovebirds can quickly turn one's own thoughts to scenes of romance.

But it isn't just the couples that make Monterrey such a romantic city, for some reason the landscape seems to be imbued with a passionate atmosphere that creates warm memories.  I recall one night vividly, I was sitting on a park bench as the sun set and Monterrey's muggy summer heat took its leave for the day.  The sounds of footsteps and voices bargaining filled my ears as people wandered around the surrounding marketplace.  These sounds were soon drown out by a guitarist who was singing his heart out.

Maybe I'm lucky, but things like this happen all the time.  In one day I:

[caption id="attachment_147" align="aligncenter" width="225"]A parade with police escort Saw a random parade[/caption]

[caption id="attachment_148" align="aligncenter" width="300"] A person performing something for families[/caption]

[caption id="attachment_146" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Dancing in Monterrey A group of teens dancing for a quinceanera[/caption]

[caption id="attachment_150" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Steel Factory at Night And this beautifully lit, out of service, steel factory.[/caption]

Let me reiterate that Monterrey is a very industrial city, you have to have an eye for moments if you want to find scenes like these.  If you aren't looking the city may only seem like a thing you would complain about.
